Financing for climate change refers to local, national or transnational funding - obtained from public, private and alternative sources of funding - that seeks to support climate change mitigation measures. Financing activities related to climate change or financing climate change is a diverse concept. In some cases, it is discussed alone or often integrated into related and overlapping concepts of green funding, sustainable funding or low carbon funding.

In our case, this is a search for alternative mechanisms that allow financing projects or mechanisms that directly lead to climate change, subject to clear quantification. The figure below shows the structure of climate finance two years ago (OECD, 2016).
